"Singer Sachal Vasandani Is Living His Best Life Now” -WBGO
"Best Life Now puts forth a seamless amalgam of pop songwriting, tight R&B grooves and jazz textures and sonorities in the mix...Vasandani’s voice occupies a smooth zone reminiscent of D’Angelo, Robert Palmer and David Sylvian, while his intelligent songwriting rises above mere pop-soul genre generics.” -DownBeat
"Sachal Vasandani returns with the vastly expanded textural palette and head-nodding grooves of Best Life Now…the album immerses listeners in a soundtrack that authentically captures both the highs and lows of contemporary relationships.” -Jazzwise
"The Warmth and Soulful Groove of Sachal Vasandani: The singer Sachal Vasandani has become known for his distinctive takes on jazz standards, and for his wide-ranging covers, from Bob Dylan to Billie Eilish. But Sachal is also a songwriter himself, and his new album, Best Life Now, is largely a collection of original songs musing on stories of sensuality, heartbreak, and other love struggles.” -WNYC
New York, NY – Thursday, September 25, 2025 – Lauded vocalist Sachal Vasandani is set to release a follow-up EP of Acoustic Sessions with sultry stripped-down versions of an array of singles from his latest studio album, Best Life Now (FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION “BEST JAZZ VOCAL PERFORMANCE, MALE” – VIEW GRAMMY SIZZLE REEL). Due out on October 3, 2025, the Acoustic Sessions EP shines the spotlight on Sachal’s emotive voice like no other recording from his acclaimed catalog. While the studio album, Best Life Now, had drum maestro Nate Smith in the producer’s chair (as well as on drums), Acoustic Sessions is wonderfully paired down with Dayna Stephens (saxophone, EWI) and Charles Altura (guitar) adding textured layers dripping with originality and soul. The collection of six tracks recorded and mixed by Ben Yonas at Sear Sound NYC, includes a rare take by Sachal on Sade’s “Lover’s Rock.”
Sachal notes, “I lucked into this configuration with Dayna and Charles. We did a trio show and hushed the room in a way that felt like magic. I figured we should do it again and take it out on the road. We were lucky to get into the studio while on tour and capture the sweetness from the original songs. On this ‘unplugged” version, we’re at the heart of the essential spirit of the songs from Best Life Now, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it.”
On the original Best Life Now, Sachal teams up with Nate for a collection of vibey, heartfelt jazz/soul/R&B expositions on modern love and he appears alongside Dayna, Charles, guest vocalists Gretchen Parlato and Shayna Steele, as well as Jon Cowherd (piano/keyboard) and Brian Cockerham (bass). Best Life Now draws listeners into their own romantic relationships with a soundtrack reflecting the ups and downs of modern love. Narratives unfold on sensuality and heartbreak, holding your partner late at night though knowing you are not truly loved, powerlessness, losing love, not giving up, feeling infatuated with a lover, endless dreaming, inner dialogue, and letting go.
Rooted in jazz, Sachal is a distinguished leading man on the New York City music scene with the swagger to front his 13-member big band at venues such as Jazz at Lincoln Center (watch an incredible rendition of “Unforgettable,” LINK) and an artist who isn’t afraid of showing his rough edges. He is celebrated for his influences from all-American personalities such as Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra, while he sings of his trials and tribulations as a wounded band leader akin to Paul Simon and Leonard Cohen. The Acoustic Sessions bleed out with his lease on love but maintains a consistent positivity.
Nate Smith says of Sachal, “I’ve always respected Sachal’s skill and courage as a singer and his cleverness as a lyricist. It takes great conviction to stand and deliver lyrics sincerely and vulnerably, and Sachal demonstrates that every time he steps to the microphone.”
Sachal has sung with the best, including Bobby McFerrin, Milton Nascimento, Wynton Marsalis, Bill Charlap, Natalia LaFourcade, Michael Feinstein, and he was a singer/composer on Gerald Clayton’s GRAMMY Award-nominated album, Life Forum. Sachal’s recording catalog includes Still Life (2022) and Midnight Shelter (2021) with pianist Romain Collin; Shadow Train (2018) featuring “Unforgettable”; Slow Motion Miracles (2015) for Sony/OKeh; and three albums on Mack Avenue including Hi-Fly (2011) which reached #1 on the iTunes Jazz Charts. On April 30, 2025, Sachal appeared alongside Herbie Hancock, Dee Dee Bridgewater, José James, John McLaughlin, John Pizzarelli, and Dianne Reeves in Abu Dhabi for International Day Jazz’s “All-Star Global Concert.”
