ONCE IS SIMPLY NOT ENOUGH … BRASS, BOWS & BEATS IS BACK FOR AN HISTORIC THREE NIGHT RUN AT YOSHI’S SF

After knocking out a standing-room only crowd at the Palace of Fine Arts for its critically-acclaimed debut, Brass, Bows, & Beats: A Hip-Hop Symphony returns, this time to Yoshi’s SF. From composer Adam Theis and featuring members of The Realistic Orchestra, The Shotgun Wedding Quintet, by Joe Bagale, Dublin, Chris McGee, Karen Paige, and many more, comes an unprecedented work, born in the true spirit of jazz and celebrated with a powerhouse 40-piece ensemble for six shows (two per evening at 8 & 10 PM) August 20-22. These gigs will act as an exclusive encore to the piece’s stunning debut as well as the official release party for the group’s PoFA Live CD recording and the exciting announcement of the forthcoming studio record (in stores later this Fall).

Back By Popular Demand, Jazz Mafia Tuesdays Return, with Special Guest … Wednesdays!

Featuring the highest concentration of raw, virtuosic talent in the Bay Area, San Francisco’s Jazz Mafia collective will kick off two new live jam residencies this summer. First up: “Jazz Mafia First Wednesdays”, starting July 8th at San Francisco’s premier jazz club, Yoshi’s SF. The nights will alternate between the collective’s largest, and most diverse ensembles, the Yoshi’s exclusive, 13-piece Shotgun Wedding Hip Hop Symphony and the 20-piece Realistic Orchestra. Forming the core of the long-running ‘Jazz Mafia Tuesdays’ (voted ‘Best Live Music Weekly’ by SF Weekly in 2006 and 2007) and the collective’s recent sold-out, Palace of Fine Arts premier for ‘Brass, Bows and Beats’ (a jazz-hop suite for 60-piece orchestra), both groups seamlessly blend improvisational jazz with hip hop, funk, electronica and latin, for a dynamic mix of ambitious originals and free-wheeling, genre defying arrangements of classic charts.
